Job Title:

Clinical Research Laboratory Technician

Job Status:
Part-time (up to 20 hrs/wk).

Job Summary:
The Clinical Research Laboratory Technician supports clinical research studies by performing laboratory tests, processing biological samples, and ensuring accurate data collection and documentation in compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and regulatory standards. The technician works closely with clinical research teams to provide reliable laboratory support throughout all phases of clinical trials.

Education:
Associate’s degree may be accepted with relevant clinical research experience

Licensure/Certifications:
Certified Medical Laboratory Technician

Laboratory Experience:
1–3 years of laboratory experience or diagnostic environment

Research Experience:
At least 1 year of experience in clinical trials preferred

Research Certification:
N/A

DOD Site Requirements:
Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance per US government requirements.

Up to date immunizations.

Core Skills & Experience:

  • Strong understanding of laboratory procedures and clinical sample handling.
  • Knowledge of GCP and clinical research regulatory frameworks.
  • Proficiency with data entry systems and laboratory management software
  • Excellent attention to detail, documentation, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

·         Experience within DoD, VA, or other US government  healthcare environments is highly desirable.

·         Working knowledge of the DoD Military Health System and clinical workflows within MTFs.

·         Experience with EHR systems such as MHS GENESIS (Cerner) preferred.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Receive and process clinical trial specimens (blood, urine, tissue, etc.) following study protocols.
  • Perform analytical tests and assays according to established methods and regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate laboratory records, including data entry into Laboratory Information Management Systems.
  • Ensure chain-of-custody and sample integrity during handling, storage, and shipment to central or reference labs.
  • Operate laboratory equipment and instruments in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Comply with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards, as well as local and international regulatory requirements.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of laboratory documentation, such as validation reports, and study-specific worksheets.
  • Support clinical study start-up and close-out activities, including inventory management and sample reconciliation.
  • Collaborate with research coordinators, investigators, and data management teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure smooth trial operations.
  • May involve weekend, or on-call shifts depending on trial schedules.
